Arch House is an ideal setting from which to explore Suffolk’s Heritage Coast with its many and varied attractions. The house is close to Thorpeness beach and picturesque mere. The attractive coastal town of Aldeburgh with it’s many shops, cafes, restaurants and annual Carnival, is two miles distant.


Visitors can visit Saxon burial grounds, historical castles and houses, National Trust gardens, churches and museums. The famous concert hall at Snape Maltings has a programme of concerts and musical events throughout the year. The Red House, home to the composer Benjamen Britten and Peter Piers is open to visitors. Minsmere, famous to bird watchers is within easy driving distance. There is something for everyone to do and to see.
The owners of Arch House, Hugh and Araminta offer a warm welcome to their guests all year round. The lovely drawing room, complete with blazing log fire in winter and the sunny terrace in summer are available for your enjoyment. Choose a book from the large collection available, listen to a CD or play the grand piano. The choice is yours.
Hugh and Araminta are deeply committed to providing fresh and seasonal food. Hugh a keen shot and fisherman provides game and fish for the table. He is a dedicated gardener, producing his own organically grown vegetables and herbs. Free range chickens provide eggs for a hearty English breakfast and preserves are home made. All other produce used is locally sourced.
Enjoy breakfast and dinner in the large farmhouse kitchen, the woodburner in winter adding to the cosy atmosphere. Should you choose to dine with us Hugh is always happy to discuss seasonal choices for dinner at the time of booking. Emphasis is on providing a friendly and informal atmosphere for your enjoyment and relaxation.
Hugh and Araminta are both qualified holistic practitioners with many years experience and are happy to offer a variety of treatments any of which can be requested at the time of booking.
